Open Access on The Go
No matter whether you are using iPad, iPhone or both – Open Access Helper will help you access > 30 million Open Access documents, when you hit a paywall.
When you reach a paywalled scientific article, Open Access Helper will identify the DOI of the article and query Unpaywall.org and Core.ac.uk for an Open Access copy. If one is found, a badge is added in the top right of the page.
If you selected your institution in the Extension Settings, the app will even help with remote access and institutional subscriptions!
Cool! Right?!

Open Access
FIND OPEN ACCESS, LEGALLY AND WITH PRIVACY IN MIND
What’s the first thing that comes to mind, when you hear Open Access? Free! No paywalls! That’s right. But it isn’t quite that straight forward, because the path to that free access, is paved with a ton of complicated terminology and a great many different possible access locations.
Open Access Helper is designed to make finding the best Open Access location easy. Whenever my app comes across a DOI, it will query the APIs of unpaywall.org & core.ac.uk to see if an Open Access copy is available elsewhere.
The App is free and Open Source and I have no intention to change that.
When it comes to your privacy, you should not trust just any stranger on the internet! To help you decide for yourself the source code for my apps is available at Github. However, if you have questions, don’t be shy and simply reach out!

Ensure Open Access Helper is enabled in the extension settings and provide it with appropriate permissions. When there is an Open Access copy available, it will add a little orange badge into the page you are viewing!
